A typical day
Each day children choose from activities geared to their
interests and abilities. They learn about their world as they
build, write, move and paint. As they play and work they also
learn about each other. Friendships are made and conflicts are
resolved as they play and learn together.
9:15am - 11:45am Day-at-a-Glance
- 9:15 Arrival
- 9:20 Morning Circle: greetings and announcements.
- 9:30-10:20 Free Choice: children are free to move about the centers; they may choose the touch table, block area, writing table, dramatic play area, music and dance area, simple games or sensory play. An age appropriate art project is always available at the Art Table.
- 10:20-10:30 Clean Up
- 10:30-10:45 Circle Time: songs, stories, movement and sharing.
- 10:45 Wash Hands
- 10:50 Snack: Parent Helpers provide a nutritious snack and drink for the class.
- 11:00 – 11:30 Outdoor play time (or inside the “Big Room” during inclement weather): a time for running, jumping, climbing, riding trikes and tossing balls. It’s also a time to resolve conflicts and learn about playing safely.
- 11:30 Clean Up
- 11:40 – 11:45 Good-byes
- 11:45 – 12:45 Lunch Bunch (Optional on Mon & Wed beginning in January)
